Palermo: 35-Year-Old Dies After Gallbladder Surgery, 11 Doctors Under Investigation

Vito Manno, a 35-year-old entrepreneur, died following gallbladder surgery performed at the Torina clinic in Palermo. After his condition worsened, he was transferred to the emergency room at the Villa Sofia hospital, where he underwent three additional surgeries but passed away on November 3rd.

Manno’s family, represented by lawyers Antonio Pecoraro and Stefania Virga, filed a complaint with the state police. Eleven doctors from the two healthcare facilities are now under investigation, facing charges of manslaughter.

The Palermo prosecutor’s office, led by Prosecutor Daniele Sansone, has ordered an autopsy and appointed four medical examiners to determine the cause of death. The family’s lawyers have also selected their own consultants to participate in the examination.
